I’ve spent my career teaching music in all sorts of settings, from primary and secondary classrooms to peripatetic teaching and one-to-one lessons. I’ve taught students of all ages, including complete beginners and musicians working towards diplomas.

The joy is in the playing
Learning an instrument takes technique, confidence and plenty of practice. But it should be enjoyable too. I want to help you find real joy in playing music, and to keep that joy with you.
I teach piano, flute, recorder and music theory with a gentle, encouraging approach, taking the time to understand how you learn and enjoy music.
You might be a young pianist getting comfortable with the basics, a returning flute player looking for the right piece to draw you back to your instrument, or someone ready to discover that the recorder has far more to offer than the plastic one you remember from primary school.
If you would like to take exams, I can support you through ABRSM, Trinity College London and MTB, from initial grades right through to diploma level. But there is no pressure to follow that route.
Progress can also mean playing with more confidence, understanding a piece more deeply or simply enjoying your instrument a little more each time you pick it up.
